Cords, Chakras, Reiki

Yesterday I was asked about the difference between cord cutting and reiki, and didn't reiki automatically remove cords. The answer to that latter is no; depending on who you receive reiki from, there might be no work with cords at all. It simply depends on that person's training and their level of sensitivity, as well as their philosophy of reiki.
In very traditional reiki, the practitioner isn't doing any psychic work at all. They are being a still and fairly passive vessel to conduct the reiki energy into you. They may use reiki symbols for specific types of healing, but they are not intentionally moving anything around in your chakras or cleaning or removing energetic cords. It still has immense benefit, and the reiki itself will remove a whole lot of energy you need to be rid of, but it won't necessarily remove cords.
What are cords, you might ask? Cords are lines of energy which connect you to others, be they family, friends, coworkers, institutions, places. They usually represent an agreement, and they often connect at the chakras. A fifth chakra cord to someone else's fifth chakra(throat) , for example, might embody an agreement about speaking on the same topics. Or to speak well of them. Or it might be there just embodying the fact that you think of them a lot, and often speak of them. This is the kind of person who will answer the question "how are you" by telling you everything their partner is up to.
A fifth chakra can also be corded to someone else's third chakra- the agreement there might be "I'll support you and give you power so long as you say nice things about me,"
or, "I control how you use your energy by what I say." Fifth chakra cords can feel very controlling if they are connected to the third chakra.
Most insidious, perhaps, among the fifth chakra cords, are the ones to parents and other authorities which contain agreements about what you are and aren't allowed to say. No one in our family talks about this, or, nice girls don't express anger. That sort of thing.
You can see from these examples that it could be beneficial to remove these particular energy connections. This does not require candles or fancy spells. It can be done with a visualization or a physical reaching for that energy and pulling it out. It is important to fill the hole where that cord was, because energy is real, with gold light. Even to wash it out first.
Someone else can remove the cords for you. When they are in your sixth chakra, it can be hard to see them because they are literally blocking your vision. Or tying your vision to someone else's information and beliefs. I have done these uncordings for others over distance and in person. The outcome is usually that the person feels lighter, clearer, more able to feel embodied and in control of where their life is going. I have also led people through meditations so that they could uncord themselves.
Both are good methods.
The only cords I never remove are heart cords. The heart connection is never the problem. And first and second chakra cords to minor childrean. Minor children depend on you and those cords need to be there. Not all cords are bad.
Having written this much, I've just scratched the surface. Cord removal is great for that breakup which you know is complete but somehow you keep thinking about them. Not wanting them back, just thinking about them and rehashing in your mind who was at fault.
Or the same for an old job.
Perhaps I will write a series on uncording. For now, know that reiki by itself won't probably do it. And let me know what questions you have about the process.
Cheers.
Amy
